My top three goals upon starting the 6-month program were to lose fat and to wake up feeling energized. To find ways of dealing with stress. Learning about mediation and mindfulness. Ali was able to help me work toward these goals by looking at my diet and making some subtle changes, teaching me about mediation and helping me understand my hormonal changes as I edge towards the menopause.
The biggest tangible change I have noticed since beginning the program has been that as a family our health and well-being has improved. We have made better choices ranging from food, drink & exercise to find the time for ourselves – the kids have even tried mediation. The most significant overall change I have noticed has been I’ve realized that taking time to prioritize myself and my health actively makes the whole family’s life better and I can and should justify it.
The most useful tips and/or techniques to bring about a change were all of them! Take 5, clean sweep, planning and prioritizing my exercise (in addition to my food which I did already do). I now sit on a Sunday night and work out exactly how I will fit in my exercise and mark it in my diary.
From working with a Health Coach, my health has improved because Ali has enabled me to give myself permission to focus on me and my health. I would describe my Health Coach, Ali, as reliable, approachable, knowledgeable, understanding and reassuring. She has been the voice of sense in a sometimes hectic and stressful family life.
I’m a super organized project manager and yet I’ve never used my skills of prioritization and time management for myself. Having the fortnightly conversations with Ali forced me to think about me and plan out my health and life goals in a way that I have never got around to. I’ve chosen to continue to speak to Ali on a monthly basis, as I get so much out of our sessions. However, I already feel like many of the lessons and skills I have learnt will stay with me and my family for life – what more could you ask for! In other words, in just 6 month of working with Ali I feel like I have made changes that will mean that will enable my whole family to be fitter, healthier and happier forever.
I thought I knew and understood beforehand what we would cover in our sessions, however as we made such great progress with my original goals we were able to touch so many more aspects of my life – e.g. I’m making more time for friends that are good for me, finding time to listen to new music, working out what I enjoy and doing it!
